Mae Muller Exudes Confidence and Grapples with Contrasting Identities on ‘no one else, not even you’
The almost-released no one else, not even you encapsulates Mae’s don’t-mess-with-me energy and honest persona, something that has drawn her fans close to her over the past few years. Mae’s music consistently blends relatable and candid, relationship-driven lyrics with strong narratives and entwined soulful pop melodies in a style that is steadily cementing her as a spokeswoman for her generation.

In a recent virtual press conference conducted by °1824, the pop singer-songwriter Mae Muller discussed self-confidence, critical societal problems and the process of finding a sound that compliments her authentic self. Not many artists would describe their EP as both profoundly emotional and ironically whimsical, but the U.K. singer-songwriter redefines the range of material artists can cover in her upcoming eight-song tracklist.
Set to release on November 6 via Capitol Records, the EP showcases Mae’s memorable and unparalleled sass as she explores her deepest memories. She’s never exposed her personality and vulnerability in this way before. From headlining Little Mix’s sold-out arena tour to a smash hit about dumping her boyfriend on his birthday, this 23-year-old creative genius is about to drop some serious pose-in-the-mirror tracks.
Mae opened up about her exploration for strength, vulnerability and humor on no one else, not even you, and she continues to hone those same qualities in herself and personal brand for quite some time now. Mae regularly encourages her young, impressionable female-fanbase to be bold and beautiful. She proudly and unapologetically advises her fans to speak up for themselves, to express their feelings to mold themselves into strong women who are perfect blends of bad-bitches mixed with vulnerability.
Mae shared her quick realization of the power her platform holds and how she’s utilized it to become the courageous, strong-willed mentor she lacked as a young girl.
“I write music that I wish I could listen to when I was 15 because I wasn’t always this outspoken, sassy person,” Mae professed. “I used to let people walk all over me, and I’ve given other people so much power over me as well, and so I’m kind of making up for that now because I’ve got this newfound voice and confidence.”
Mae explained how her growing confidence and self-love journey fueled her upcoming EP, which largely encourages listeners to feel more vocal and self-assured.
“I just want them to feel like they should know their worth,” Mae adds. “Women should use their voice and not be afraid to speak their truth because I’ve gotten to a point now where I know how I feel, and you can either like it or get lost.”
However, Mae reminds her fans to embrace their complexity; female empowerment and emotional maturity both deserve consideration and work hand-in-hand. She praised her sassy powerhouse and emotional capability duality, explaining how no one is either 100% of the time. She confessed how people have “off” days and a plethora of moods and how it’s good to display that side as well because that’s what’s authentic.
Mae continues to influence and educate as she tackles issues and causes she finds vital in today’s climate. Whether it’s sex-positivity or FaceTune or Black Lives Matter, Mae always takes advantage of her sound and ever-growing social media following to highlight critical societal problems that are happening right now.
“I think as an artist, it’s way more than music,” Mae revealed. “I think with Black Lives Matter, I was just thinking there could be some followers of mine that might be a bit younger, and they might not have any other person that they’re looking up to speak about it, so if I can be that one, I will.”
Mae’s career may just be lifting off, but she’s already found a profound way to make her music and identity synonymous. Above all, Mae hopes her latest creation will serve as a tuneful inspiration that gives everyone insight into who she is as an individual and artist while motivating others to embrace their own identities as well.
