We think it’s about time for a little change. (The good kind of change, that is.) It’s time to remember the ones we love, the moments that brought us — and still continue to bring us — happiness and every detail in-between. 745ish, a local duo comprised of Nathan Hahn and Matt Mirkes, the very same we debuted here as 745ish in June 2019, has returned with their first EP and music video for their first single shared off the project, “For Today.”
The three-song EP calls out for the recognition of fleeting moments — many captured for us in the “For Today” video — and struggle of making the same room feel new again as each day passes in the midst of a global pandemic. “Trapped inside, I can’t leave / On the other side of the glass, I see you walking / I need some room to breathe” opens the EP on “The Room,” dragging us through the murky restlessness of mind and body forced to stay in one place. “Poor Man’s Curse” lets the dust settle, casting airy vocals over an easy melody, giving us that room to breathe we craved before. The EP ends on “For Today,” a track that hits right at the heart, simultaneously acting as an act of remembrance for the moments we had and acknowledgment of the present moment and what we have right before our eyes.
While the future remains uncertain, as the band has announced Mirkes’ move out to Wyoming (for work!), they have reassured us that the journey does not end here and there will be more to come.
