LIVE REVIEW: Summer Salt at High Noon Saloon

If any band was going to get me to spend a Sunday night out in March, it’s Summer Salt. Walking into the High Noon Saloon, I felt instantly comforted  at the sight of the stage decorated in flowers.

Breakup Shoes took the stage first, starting the night on a peaceful note. Members Nick Zawisa, John MacLeod, Derrick Lafforthun and Matthew Witsoe performed a relaxed set filled with gentle, lovable tunes. Okey Dokey was next to perform, contrasting Breakup Shoes by turning the energy up on stage. Their psychedelic music was infused with nostalgia, mixed with a modern, upbeat twist. Frontman Aaron Martinneo was committed to a show of surprises and jumped into the crowd, singing as he wandered around the stunned room. Breakup Shoes returned to the stage for the final song of Okey Dokey’s set.

After a high-energy opening to the show, the members of Summer Salt took the stage. The crowd was full of sweet smiles and dancing as the band played their groovy tunes. Well-known tracks “Candy Wrappers” and “Revvin’ My Cj7” were crowd favorites and drove the energy in the venue higher. The night overflowed with beautiful music that made me eager for warmer weather and the summertime ahead of us.
